A jewel in the jungle

Mike has no time to rest. We are up at sunrise and are underway by 0730. Our sail from Boqueron, PR to the DR was text book perfect. We sailed nearly the entire trip, motoring only to charge the batteries and the refrigerator. We timed our arrive for just after sunrise at 0700. After talking to Phil and Barb on Ceres in Boqueron, we changed our destination in the DR from Luperon to Ocean World. Luperon was reported to be dirty, unpleasant anchorage, something we subsequently verified by land in our rental car. In fact, to call it just dirty is being too kind. On the other hand, Ocean World is a stunningly beautiful aquatic park with a new marina still under construction. It turned out to be a jewel in a jungle. JoAnn, the marina manager could not have been more helpful. She arranged a rental car, water, fuel, clean laundry, and even a refrigerator repair. After our shore excursion on Tuesday, we came back to run the fridge and found that the motor would not run. We wanted to leave on Wednesday, but we also wanted a refrigerator. JoAnn arranged for the Ocean World maintenance staff to come and look at it. They determined that one of the brushes and springs was bad. They were not able to fix it without the parts, but they did a superb job of trying. I now know the problem, and when I get the parts should have no trouble fixing it. We will just stock up on ice when we can.
