Specialty Suppliers

Bolt Depot A fantastic source for stainless steel bolts and screws. The service is very fast and the price is great compared to a chandlery. It is often cheaper to buy a box of a hundred than individual units at a local store.

Bosun Supplies They have a terrfic selection of stainless steel tools, which are not easy to find. They also have very useful information on various grades of stainless steel. They are located in Arnold, MD.

Davis Best know for their weather products, but they also have an interesting smarting of nautical gear. For example, their radar reflector is rated best, and they have an excellent cockpit light that plugs into a 12 volt outlet. They also do the 8.5x11 plastic reference cards.

Fiorintino The best rated sea anchor. I bought the 12 foot chute.

Kato Marine Excellent motor lifts and davits. I bought my motor lift here.

Sewing Supplies

Sailrite - The best source for canvas, sail cloth, and heavy duty sewing supplies. They now have a store in Annapolis. I bought my sewing machine here and love it.

Ohio Travel Bag - An astonishing collection of buckles and hardware for repairing luggage, much of which is useful for making custom bags.

Harbor Sales The best price for sheets of teak plywood, acrylic, and starboard.

Exotic Lumber The best source in the Annapolis area for small quantities of teak, teak plywood, and other hard to find hardwoods.

PPL Motor Home Since a cruising sailboat is nothing but an RV on the water, RV and motor home suppliers are often great sources for products. I bought my back up Jabsco fresh water pumps here. RV owners are just as cheap as sailboat owners - always looking for a bargain.
