Wave heights are difficult to capture in photos, but these photos of Full Circle, taken by Babette while we were sailing from Guadeloupe to Antigua, show how much of her is hidden from view when she is in a wave/swell trough. Babette, crewed by Shannon and Ornuef, is on a one year voyage from Norway to the Caribbean and back. Like us, they will be using St. Martin as their jumping off point for the trip home. They, however, have a much bigger jump. From St. Martin, they will be sailing directly to the Azores off of Portugal, a trip that could find them at sea for up to 30 days. From the Azores they proceed to Ireland and north of England across the North Sea to their home in Flekkefsord, Norway. They expect to arrive home in July, one year after they started. We crossed paths multiple times and spent several enjoyable evenings trading sea stories. As it turns out,Shannon is American, and her mother lives in Silver Spring, MD, less than 50 miles from our home in Annapolis.
