Enclosing the Picture

Wash the glass carefully. Windex or some other cleaner is fine, but one part ammonia with seven parts water is as good as anything. Use a blower or an unused paint brush to remove any lint or dust from the glass or the picture. Place picture in frame.

Metal frames come with special gadgets to hold the picture in the frame.

For wood frames you need to use glazing points similar to those used to hold glass in the windows of your house. Your can also use small nails. The cheapest thing to use is standard glazing points which are pushed in with a screw driver.

If you plan to do a lot of framing, Fletcher makes a automatic point driver similar to a staple gun. The only problem is they are expensive (about $65-$100 in 3/98). Start with hand points first and see how much framing you plan to do before investing in more expensive tools.
